Here and there

We're both traveling this week..guess it's that time of year!  Headed to Atlanta for family wedding and reunion, vaca, and Cuppycake to worship music camp.  Lots of folks to see, lots to do, and adventures ahead.  Just discovered this morning a once-a-year happening:  the blooming of our favorites, the stargazer lilies in our yard..here's what they look like:

Too bad you can't smell them..heavenly!

Sarah..Sarah...Sarah..! (Palin, that is..)

Methinks perhaps Ms. Palin should seriously consider keeping her history opinions to herself.  My goodness, she is so giving away much more than she intends to by giving new and totally fictional accounts of well documented historical events in our country's history.  I lean way to the conservative, but really, she is just NOT presidential material, although the current admin does continue to do things that make almost anyone look better...God, help us, and provide us with some viable God-fearing candidates!

Trouble with Passwords

If you're like me, you have about three or four frequent "passwords" you use for accounts and logins. And if you're like me you'll also forget which password is for which account on which website. Sometimes I overestimate my capacity for remembering things. Kind of like just now. Due to my forgetfulness, I had to make a whole new account, and therefore I have a new username, Sae So any posts from here on out signed by Sae are written by grandchic-the-younger (foremerly Cuppycake).

Fantasy retail therapy

We're off to a fancy-ful family wedding in a couple of weeks.  Just makes a body automatically think of buying a new outfit, from head to toe, doesn't it?  Now me, I have to be in the MOOD to shop, and sadly, I'm not.  But..if I WAS, I might indulge in something kinda like this:

or..maybe this:

or..

.....alas..are my downfall!  All that fantasy retail therapy and all I've managed to get is a bunch of shoes (or in the case of my choices above, "tendon tearers" as my hubby would say).  Which, truth to tell, none of which could I possibly wear...seeing as how as a grandchic in my 6th decade, shall we just say that my uh.. "center of gravity" has more or less.. uh.. "shifted", and I would no doubt break a leg or something the first step I took, not even to mention the first dance I danced!  Sadly, (sniff sniff) I was born too late for these fabulous shoes..maybe Cuppycake can wear them for me!  (She fortunately has NO center of gravity issues!)  Wow, just THINK of the money I've saved today! :)  It can be useful to live vicariously thru your projeny..

Memorial Day

My Dad and his brothers who served in World War II.  He's the one on the left.  Thanks to all who gave their lives to pay for our freedom!

Caramel cake...will make you slap yo mama

Loooovvveee caramel cake.  Absolutely love.  Here's Paula Deen's recipe:

still here

What a week.  Our president expects Israel to do the unthinkable...as we speak, Netanyahu is here trying to give the president an education, basically saying "It ain't gonna happen, and you know it."  Gotta love that former special ops dude, he does not mess around.  Love this video account of it:

Once again..

First, Katrina.  Then, the oil spill.  And now, yet again, the beleaguered state of Louisiana seems under the gun.  This time, the snowmelt-swollen Mississippi River is escaping its boundaries.  The longer this goes on, the more water flows, and there is nowhere else to go but over or through the levees in Louisiana toward the destination for all that water..the Gulf.

Treat Yourself!

Another one of our faves, Softsoap Bodywash, Sweet Honeysuckle and Orange Peel flavor.  LOVE IT!

The cure for complaining

Lots of opinions on the art of complaining and/or whining.  But this seems to make the most sense to me!

Current events

Regarding the current buzz about whether or not the feds should release photographic "proof" of the death of bin Ladin, there are those who feel, and perhaps rightly so, that some folks could be quite traumatized by viewing such a grisly picture.  Although personally, as a retired nurse, I have seen many people who are dead, and could truly care less to see said picture myself, I have mixed emotions.

Praying for tornado victims

We are praying for everyone who was in the path of all the awful tornadoes of yesterday.  We ask the Lord to bless them, comfort them, and to lead rescuers to those who may still be trapped in rubble.  Having gone through Katrina, we know what they are experiencing, and we ask the Lord to give them hope and guard their hearts during the aftermath of this situation.  Send your angels of mercy Lord!

Crunchwrap Supreme from Taco Bell...another one of our faves!

"A warm, soft, flour tortilla filled with seasoned beef, warm nacho cheese sauce, a crunchy tostada shell, reduced fat sour cream, lettuce and tomatoes and then wrapped up and grilled for maximum portability". All we can say is "YUM"!  Both of us love 'em!

Good Friday...Sunday's coming!

Good Friday

Being "Good Friday" and all, I wax a bit eloquent on the real meaning of the day in history.  Who can really conceive of what Jesus actually accomplished for us on the Cross?

Off to school!

End of the vaca from 9th grade for Cuppycake!  She's sort of the 1 and 1/2 armed bandit at this point, so she is cleared to rejoin the throngs of adolescents that are busy going hither and thither.  (Where IS hither and thither anyway..?)  We'll see how today goes.  Stay tuned...

Our awesome favorite salad: Wendy's apple chicken!

Day 5 of the broken bone experience..

Today both of us are hanging out while Cuppycake's broken collarbone continues to heal.  It's fun for us to be together, even under recuperating circumstances.  Today we plan on sneaking out to Wendy's to get our FAVE salad, the apple/chicken salad!  WE LOVE IT!

Last night we sat outside on the patio and enjoyed that full moon, it was beautiful with a nice breeze.  If we're up to it, we may do a little gardening today.  Translate: Gram will plant stuff and Cuppycake will sit in the swing and advise...

It is beautiful today, sunny and a cool Spring breeze blowing.  Spring in Mississippi should not be missed!  We are planting tomatoes, zinnias, lantana, and portulaca.  The roses and azaleas are in bloom already.

The fabulous pink piggy slippers

Capelli New York Pretty Piglet Nubby Scuff Girls Indoor Slippers Pink 1/2

Broken Bones and Other Tings

Finally, I get to post! I had a mishap of the broken bone kind last Friday. I got bucked off of my horse and on the way to the ground, met up with a bunch of wooden jump standards. Bummer. After a visit to the ER, cat scans and xrays, I am sitting at home with my right arm in a sling (and by the way, it's very unattractive..) and 7 stitches in my jaw. The upside is my Gram came to take care of me, and brought me some pink slippers (VERY attractive), not to mention the fact that I get a temporary vaca from 9th grade..woohoo!

International House of Prayer : The Prayer Room Webstream

International House of Prayer : The Prayer Room Webstream

Halleyulah! Thank You God!

a not-so-amusing musing..(DANGER: requires thought!)

The two of us live in different locations: Grandchic-the-elder lives on the Gulf Coast, Grandchic-the-younger lives mid-state.  Makes for a good mix of "environmental awareness" sometimes!

Grandchic-the-elder: living on the beautiful tropical Gulf Coast has many pros and a few cons.  Of course our surroundings are breathtaking, the gardening opportunities un-surpassed, and the sunsets on the beach..well, only God can paint the sky like that!  People are in general "live and let live", of course, with a few exceptions, just like anywhere else. Translation:  not much ATTITUDE, friendly-like!  We live in a military town, which has its positives.  It's very artsy-fartsy here, with colorful architecture and seabreezes thrown in for good measure.  Kid-friendly, retiree-friendly, family oriented in general.

On the "con" side..

Charmingcharlie.com: We love it!

Both of us grandchics love Charming Charlie's in the Renaissance shopping mall in Jackson, MS!  It's truly accessory heaven!  "Charming Charlie can be sensory overload (in a good way). Not only do they serve up an amazing selection, they organize their store by color families. So if you are not up to exploring the vast selection of accessories, you can head straight to the right color family to find your accessories. Accessorizing a red dress and you want “red” or “black” accessories?  Make a bee line for those sections. They keep it simple, so your inner fashion-ista can do the rest".

Sweet Amazing Grace, we'll remember you!

Saenaynay Jellyfishsandwich Sphinx

A beautiful picture of grandchic the younger with her sweet horse Amazing Grace.  We were so sorry to lose her recently!

Grandchics?

Our blog is called "Grandchics".  Why, you may ask?  We are blessed to be grandmother and granddaughter that's why!  We both love writing, reading, cooking, nature, our family, Jesus, and each other, as well as many other interests, both in common and unique to each of us.   We like to hear each other's points of view, from opposite ends of the age spectrum.  So...here goes..and you are invited to join us in our journey!
